Tim Paget is a Professor of Medical Microbiology in the Faculty of Health Sciences and Wellbeing. His current research covers a range of areas but his major focus is on parasitic infections. Tim is also interested in identifying new approaches for the detection and control of microbial infections.
In this lecture Professor Tim Paget will talk about the global challenge of infection control in an era where poverty, war and political change are on the increase. In particular what are the issues surrounding the development of a concerted approach by governments, industry and bodies such as the World Health Organisation (WHO) to combat infection, also what part can we as individuals play. Tim will also talk about ‘forgotten’ parasitic diseases that ravage many parts of the world and what additional problems these present
