Anyone can make (almost) anything in a FabLab.
The University of Sunderland has established the North East’s first FabLab, part of a worldwide network of Fabrication Laboratories. They originated out of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston, USA under the principle of personal fabrication, rather than mass production.
It’s a place brimming with opportunities for learning and innovation and will play an important part in bringing individuals, communities and businesses together. It can be used for education, technological empowerment, skills and technical training, team building, individual projects, problem solving, grass roots research, high tech business incubation or to turbocharge a prototype to market to name but a few! In fact the possibilities are endless.
