Practical Warehouse and Practical Inventory Management

Practical Warehouse and Practical Inventory Management

Description

The practical warehouse and inventory management courses have been designed for manufacturing companies to assist in reducing some of the problems, volatility and pressures of running the materials needs along side the core product manufacturing process. Using a mixture of examples, exercises and discussions the two day course will take the delegates through many different ways to tackle some of the potential issues and starting points to make a difference in minimising effort and cost or materials management.

The course is designed for purchasing, operations, manufacturing, warehouse and general managers to be able to potentially see some of the policy and practice implications and managing demands across the business. Developed with experience within many industries of addressing the underlying and common problems that managers may face in meeting the challenges of reducing costs and improving logistics efficiency, companies may benefit from applying some of the techniques to their own industries.

Day 1 is designed to look at the impact of the inventory and buying policies on the warehouse, space and bottlenecks. In addition, the course looks at some of the common issues that face warehouse performance including picking and location accuracy. We also look at ‘lean’ warehouse and how to identify warehouse ‘wastes’ so that they can be tackled, along side ways to improve discipline, performance and overall capacity and capability.

Day 2 has been designed to then look in more detail at inventory policy and accuracy. We will look at the impact of inventory accuracy to the business physically and financially, as well as ways to improve this. As part of the process we will look at how we link the systems for inventory management, In addition with examples we will look at ways to reduce the inventory levels, where to start and useful techniques analyse the inventory levels and to drive the value down. The tutor is Ms. Rita Potts AMAP Associate, who has been active within supply chain and productivity improvements throughout her career and has spent many years working within the supply chains or many leading organisations as well as supporting smaller business growth.
